What is it? It's flying!

Imagine a wind tunnel that can be used for testing the aerodynamics of an F1 racing car, turn it upright, step into the airflow and you are skydiving. It's a proven concept operating in several countries to the benefit of the skydiving community and anyone else who wishes to taste the thrill of freefall in a completely safe environment.

To enter the tunnel, stand in the open doorway and lean forward, you will feel your legs lifted from under you as you assume a horizontal flying position. The instructor will take a loose grip on your flight suit and help you get into a neutral flying position before teaching you the basic moves. Movements including going up and down, forwards, backwards, sideways and turning are all simple and easy to master and you will soon be learning new tricks! To leave the tunnel, simply fly to the second doorway, take a grip on the sides and stand up and you are back in the ante chamber. In goes the next person and you all shuffle up until itís your turn again. All flyers are required to sign a waiver & there is a weight limit of 18 stone.

Schedule for the day:

Meet the instructor: Once everyone is signed in you'll be met by your instructor who will have many hours of experience in the wind tunnel and teaching new flyers just like you.

Class: You will be shown a video briefing of what to expect and how it all works. Itís all very simple and very exciting! Following the video the instructor will get you to demonstrate the flying position before you head off to get your flying gear.

Special gear: All of the specialist equipment you need is supplied: flight suit (that fits over your normal clothes), specialist headgear, goggles, earplugs (we also sell reusable high quality earplugs), knee and elbow pads

Into the Outer Chamber: The bell sounds and the doors to the outer chamber open. As the last group come out, in you file and take a seat. The doors close and the motors start getting the air up to speed in just a few seconds. The instructor steps into the airflow, walking on the steel net floor, and beckons in the first flyer. They come to the doorway and lean in, and almost immediately they are flying!  60 seconds later they are stepping out after their first flight and itís your turn!

Look mum Iím flying! : The instructor beckons you in and you follow the classroom brief and all of a sudden you are in the rush of air and youíre flying. The instructor has a light grip on your flight suit and helps you position arms and legs for a nice neutral body position. Next you try some small movements and you begin to pick up the idea of what movement makes what changes. After a minute itís time to exit back into the outer chamber, big grins, high fives and you take a seat. The rest of your group all fly and itís your turn again for your next flight. You know what to expect and canít wait to get back in to practice the moves.

Each attendee receives

* Top class body flying instruction

* Equipment hire

* Personalised Printed Flight Certificate

* Access to the tunnel viewing gallery (for family and friends)

* A high quality digital photo to download

* Two minutes total tunnel time Ė enough time for the flyers to express themselves having learned a broad range of freefall skills.
