BBC Birmingham has thrown open its doors, offering you the chance to go inside the state-of-the-art studios situated in The Mailbox.  Take a peek behind the scenes of programmes which are made here and try your hand at some interactive fun!  During the tour there is always the chance of bumping into a favourite presenter or radio DJ, hearing some trade secrets or being party to some juicy gossip while passing the actors' green room...  We'll take you inside as many studios as business allows but please remember that BBC Birmingham is a working building and no two tours are the same.

The tour of BBC Birmingham lasts 1.5 hours. This includes 10 minutes for security checks at the start of each tour. The tour will consist of walking around the building and periods of standing still whilst listening to the guides (for approx. 30mins).

Important: Whist we book these as Spice exclusive tours, if we are low on numbers the BBC reserve the right to add public bookings onto our tours.

FEEDBACK FROM PREVIOUS TOURS

“The BBC tour on Saturday was one of the best behind the scenes tours I have ever been on. Everyone seemed to agree that they guides, Shaun and Tim, were super. They were very enthusiastic and spoke loudly and clearly so everyone could hear and they allowed sufficient time for photoes in the relevant places”

“I have just returned from this tour which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was great fun and the tour guides were great too and gave us plenty of time to ask questions.  Thanks so much - can thoroughly recommend this event”

“Just like to say what a fantastic tour this was.  The guides looked after us really well and were very knowledgable and enthusiastic.
I was amazed how much goes on there and really enjoyed seeing the studio where they read the news bulletins.  Especially interesting was the studio for The Archers, as I didn't realise the attention to detail that is needed for a radio programme”

“The two highlights of the tour for me were the Dalek that you could be photographed with, and the part where some of us were able to record a short play.  That was particularly hilarious, especially when I got my lines wrong!  The finished article which they played back to us was very funny.
I am sure everyone who goes on these tours will enjoy them”
