PLACE    :     A barn on a farm in Wishaw, just off the A446 near

                   The Belfry Hotel. Easy access

                   from Sutton, Solihull & M42 #

TIME  :         Arrive from 7.30pm, Band play 8pm to 11pm. Food served 9pm

We've  had so many requests to run this night again, again & again! The same successful formula of great music, an authentic rural location and great food has been arranged. Depending on the weather, we’ll either have a BBQ, or the food will be served buffet style indoors.

Music is provided live by popular four piece band Fiddlers Elbow, who bring us the best jigs and country sounds from Irish and Scottish roots in particular. The caller will run the evening and explain all the moves. It's a great opportunity to mix, as you are never with one partner for long - and don't worry if you can't dance, as none of us can…but it is great fun trying!

Our hosts, Anne & David will be serving up the food (vegetarian options on request), and manning the bar that has fine country ales on tap.

All in all, it's about as much fun as you can have in a barn with your clothes on - so grab a place before they go

FEEDBACK

● A superb event, it rates among one of my favourites so far. It really didn't matter that I couldn't remember the steps, I was ably assisted by those who had attended before. Everyone was so friendly, I have already booked to attend the next one; can't wait!

● A very sociable and fun night. Good event for mixing and meeting other spice members.

● A brilliant night as always looking forward to next barn dance

● Good fun, good food, good friends.

The social side and the dancing was brilliant. I can be quite shy, but thanks to other SPICE members, this didn't last for very long at all.

● A really fun night out! The musicians were excellent and the dance instructor was clear and very patient! The food choices were good and very tasty. I will definitely go to another barn dance again. The venue was a bit small for the amount of people dancing but I suppose you got to 'bump' into a lot of fellow dancers!

● I have only missed 3 barn dances in the last 3 years they are brilliant. This is one event I look forward to

● This is always a great event. A fun evening with good food and a very sociable event, definitely one if you are going alone as you'll be dancing and laughing all night.

● The information given about the event was very helpful, the event was well organized, the venue, band, caller and food were excellent. It was the first time I'd been to a Barn Dance and I'll definitely be going again.

● This was my first event with spice, really enjoyed the evening. The venue and food was very good. Good experience, thank you.

● This was my first Spice Barn Dance and I had a brilliant time. Met some lovely people and danced all night with lots of laughs along the way. There is a well stocked bar for that much needed drink break(s) along with a lovely home cooked meal i.e. chilli con carne... Yum!!

● I really enjoyed this event. The live band were wonderful and the dancing instructions were very clear.

The barn dance is one of my favourite Spice events. I've been many times and it should be kept just as it is and never moved to any other venue! The venue is great if a bit cramped but this is an integral part of the atmosphere. It has terrific food and the dancing is a lot of fun with an excellent band and caller and great for socialising.

My first event had good laugh great food and friendly people. Ready to book more now.

Just a lot of daft fun.food was good.people friendly.im glad i made it

What a fab fab evening -great venue (once you find it), lovely people (athough a few too many for the room but that kind of made it even more fun), fab food, just a great evening all round - can't wait for the next one!

I came alone, but needn't have worried - as straight away was made welcome by the co-ordinator and spice members. Had a real laugh learning the dances, food was good but being a veggie - I always get pasta!I had a really good night and already looking forward to the next one.

Great evening as always ...lovely to see people you know and met new members. Everyone remakes on the friendliness of this event…! One of ‘Spices’ best evening to get to know people and have ‘FUN’.

● The Barn Dance was excellent - a great way to spend an evening and socialise. It was more energetic than I thought, and I found myself regularly out of puff! It is one of the most sociable events I have been to and I would go again. The barn is a lovely location, although the dirt track entrance can kill your suspension! It has a great little bar and good facilities. There were too many people booked onto it to really enable everyone to dance at the same time, so people had to sit out a few dances. It also gets incredibly hot so be warned - wear appropriate clothes. Loved this event and would go again.

· The Barn Dance, as always, was excellent.  I think it’s one of the most sociable events in SPICE and a good one to turn up to if you’re on your own.  Food was excellent.  Well worth the money.  I just have two slight complaints, I always think there are just slightly too many people for the small room and it is always far too hot there

· I hadn't been to a barn dance for about 15 years and from memory, I don't think I enjoyed it much.  I decided to book the barn dance as it seemed to have such good write-ups and was always booked out.  At teatime on Saturday, I suddenly thought - why did I book this?  Well........ I had an absolutely fantastic evening, I laughed all evening, the people were great, the band was great and so was the food - I didn't have a clue what I was doing but neither did most of us, but that didn't matter.   I would definitely book again and I have changed my views about barn dances and told my friends and people I work with what a great evening I had. Can’t remember how much I paid, but I'm sure it was good value, whatever!  The co-ordinator was very good, very friendly and very organised.

·  I did really enjoy the barn dance, the band was very good and the caller made sure we knew what we were doing.  There was also plenty of hot food to go around (I eat to much).  Perhaps the hall was a bit small as there was not enough space, but that did not matter really every one seemed to enjoy the night.  If you put it on again and I am available I will come again.  I would recommend it others.

· I've been to the barn dance many times and always find it a very enjoyable event and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a good time and a laugh and who doesn't take the dancing part too seriously as most of the fun is had getting the steps wrong!  The food is also great and the drink is cheap!  Sue is a very good co-ordinator and her laughing is heard all across the room during the dances! The band and caller are always very good and help to make it an enjoyable and not too serious event. The venue is great, but is a bit too small to get everyone in when the floor is full. However, a bigger venue was tried a couple of years ago (Botanical Gardens) and the atmosphere just wasn't the same so I think overall it is difficult to suggest many improvements. It is one of my favourite events and I think it is very good value for money - it's always a sell-out so I think that speaks for itself.

· Thought it was excellent-- much laughter, good atmosphere

· The barn dance was tremendous fun, and everyone there seemed to be enjoying it. It's a good event to meet and mix with people, and the food was good with plenty of it. The only thing on the downside was that on the night I went, it was really, really hot in there and they should have turned the heating down!

 · This event is always fun. Laughed my head 'orf at the last one. The venue and staff are excellent, the buffet is consistently good. Co-ordinators are visible and helpful. The band and caller are first rate. I wish it was monthly rather than bi-monthly, and as I really rate the place aren't there more events that could be booked here (shooting, dog training, other country pursuits?)
