Were the guests of Alasdair and Moira Fraser again. But this time were not there for the Llamas, but to enjoy some pony trekking on their delightful rescued ponies.

We start by meeting Alasdair and Moira at their farm, where they have a lovely collection of rare breed and rescued animals for us to meet including wild boar and llamas.

They also have 6 rescued trekking ponies. Each has a story to tell. Two (Ross & Alfie) made the news when found abandoned on the Celtic Manor Golf Course just before the Ryder Cup. Another two were found wandering the M5 Motorway! All are now safe on the farm and have been meticulously trained for trekking.

Everyone starts off in the arena where you can get to know your pony and the team can ensure you are riding safely before you go off into the forest. What you accomplish on the following couple of hours trekking will depend on your riding ability. If you have some riding experience you will get the most out of the day, however all levels are welcome. There is some exceptional scenery also to enjoy in this unspoilt part of Gloucestershire.

Its CHRISTMAS: For the Christmas Trek, expect some festive theming and no doubt mince pies/ mulled wine or similar treats.

Riding hats are provided. Please wear footwear that has a small heel. Maximum weight for riders is 15 stone.

We will finish off with a picnic meal back at the farm and another opportunity to get to know the other animals who have made Severnwye Farm their home.

What a wonderful day I had riding in the Forest of Dean, Alister, Moira and Sara were lovely hosts and made us extremely welcome. It was a packed day riding in the morning for about one half hours then also in the afternoon. Not just that Moira put on an amazing lunch plus meeting the other animals like Winston the gigantic rabbit. You could not wish for a nicer place to ride than in the Forest of Dean on some beautiful horses and all rescue too. Except for Bill who I rode who is a ride and drive, so if you are more experienced you may get him. I would definitely recommend this day if you ride or generally like horses.

I thought it was a fantastic day, really good value for money.

I enjoyed all of it, the venue was in a beautiful part of the country but obviously the riding part of it was the best. We went out in the morning and afternoon which we did not expect. Excellent value for money.
