This is an informal opportunity for film lovers to get together each month at Birmingham’s prime multiplex cinema.

Most of the films have screenings starting between 5.45 & 6.30pm, so we will meet Sean, the coordinator in the Foyer and decide which film to see. We expect that most people will join the coordinator at a film that they recommend; however, you can see a different film if you wish and we can split into smaller groups so no one needs to sit alone. Once we have bought our tickets we have access to the cafe bar upstairs which we will use as our “base” before and after the film(s).

Après Film: After the films, we can enjoy discussing what we have seen as a group of “Spice Critics”.

Coordinator: Sean Kavanagh will meet you all. If you are logged into our website you will see the relevant phone number in the “host” box above.

Note: Sean will turn his phone off when he’s in the theatre but everyone meets in the cinema bar afterwards when he will pick up any text/email messages sent to me by late attendees. If you are late and don't get a response then pick a film and join us in the bar afterwards.

Parking: If you park in the car park next door (Euro Car Parks, Bishopsgate Street), and present your ticket at the box office, you get up to 3 hours parking free.

Driving Directions:

From the city centre; follow signs for broad Street, near canal. From junction 6 of the M6 follow the Aston Expressway through Queensway. Turn right at McDonalds and the cinema is located on the five ways roundabout

Public Transport

Five ways BR runs to the end of Broad Street (New St Line). Buses 9,21,22,23,29,109 and 139.

From the New Street Station turn left onto Queens Drive. Turn left at the roundabout, take the second exit onto on to B4127 Holloway Head. Turn right onto Bishopsgate Street. This is the Cinema.

Film suggestions for each date will be posted here a few days before each date.

Update from Sean for 17/12/2017 Cinema Night:

Meet in the Cineworld lobby at the earlier time of 4:30pm since this
month's big movie has an IMAX showing starting before the normal meetup time.
Feel free to text me on 07834 754575 if you have any questions.

1) 5:00pm "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" IMAX 3D 152mins

   5:40pm "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" 4DX 3D 152mins

6:00pm "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" 2D 152mins

6:30pm "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" 3D 152mins
- In Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past.
*** The IMAX showing of The Last Jedi is my recommendation for this month!

2) 5:20pm "Daddy's Home 2" 2D 100mins
- In the sequel to the 2015 global smash, father and stepfather, Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) and Brad (Will Ferrell), have joined forces to provide their kids with the perfect Christmas. Their newfound partnership is put to the test when Dusty's old-school, macho Dad (Mel Gibson) and Brad's ultra-affectionate and emotional Dad (John Lithgow) arrive just in time to throw the holiday into complete chaos.

3) 6:20pm "Ferdinand" 2D 106mins
- FERDINAND tells the story of a giant bull with a big heart. After being mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure. Set in Spain, Ferdinand proves you can't judge a bull by its cover. From Blue Sky Studios and Carlos Saldanha, the director of 'Rio' and inspired by the beloved book 'The Story of Ferdinand' by Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson, 'Ferdinand' is a heartwarming animated comedy adventure with an all-star cast that includes John Cena, Kate McKinnon, Gina Rodriguez, Anthony Anderson and many more.

4) 5:20pm "Justice League" 2D 120mins
- Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless
act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an
even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and
recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But
despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder
Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the
planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

5) 6:10pm "Paddington 2" 2D 103mins
- From producer David Heyman (HARRY POTTER, GRAVITY, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE
TO FIND THEM). PADDINGTON 2 finds Paddington happily settled with the Brown
family in Windsor Gardens, where he has become a popular member of the
community, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes. While searching for the
perfect present for his beloved Aunt Lucy's 100th birthday, Paddington spots a
unique pop-up book in Mr. Gruber's antique shop, and embarks upon a series of
odd jobs to buy it. But when the book is stolen, it's up to Paddington and the
Browns to unmask the thief.

We will attempt to build a consensus on the night as to what film we will watch.
However, everyone is free to see any of the above movies since we meet up in the
Cineworld bar afterwards to chat. If we decide on a late starting film then we
visit the upstairs bar beforehand to chat as well.

PLEASE DROP ME A TEXT IF YOU BOOK THIS EVENT BUT CAN'T MAKE IT since we try to
wait for everyone to appear before we book our tickets.
