Overview: This walking and social weekend with Steve Dell will have a walk on both days and stays in the lovely village of Dunster on the edges of Exmoor National Park.

The Saturday walk is likely to be from the hotel and will go into Exmoor and will offer a shorter and longer walk of around 6 and 10 miles.

The Sunday walk will be around 6 miles and will include the beautiful Snowdrop Valley which has a superb show of snowdrops which people travel from all over the country to see.

There are several tourist attractions if you want to mix and match walking with touristy stuff. Dunster Castle is in the village and the West Somerset heritage railway is nearby. We are a short distance from the seaside town of Minehead with lots of touristy stuff, cafes etc

We stay at a The Yarn Market hotel in Dunster a pretty village with cafes, pubs and a castle.

The walking programme

The walking programme is designed to be flexible to meet the group’s needs but this is the provisional walking programme.

Saturday: Todays walk will likely start from the hotel and will go into Exmoor taking in places like Gallox Bridge (medieval crossing), Bats Castle and Withycombe. There will be a shorter and a longer walk available of around 6 and 10 miles).

The Sunday walk will be around 6 miles and starts from Wheddon Cross another lovely Exmoor village. We make our way to Snowdrop Valley which has a superb show of snowdrops which people travel from all over the country to see. Snowdrop Valley is a privately owned remote valley in a hidden part of Exmoor. See http://www.wheddoncross.org.uk/snowdropvalley.htm

Evenings and Après Walking: Each evening we will have dinner at the hotel. On the first night Steve will go through the plans for the next few days and we can get to know our fellow Spicers. We will have our own function room for the weekend. Steve will run a quiz on the Saturday night which always proves popular. Or we can go for a drink at one of the local pubs.

The Hotel: We stay at a The Yarn Market hotel, High St, Dunster, TA24 6SF, an independent 3 Star family-run hotel priding itself on friendly service. Situated in the medieval village of Dunster, dominated by its castle within Exmoor National Park. They offer a warm welcome to all who want to enjoy the magnificent surroundings of Exmoor and West Somerset. The ancient Yarn Market is directly in front of the Hotel.
